No transfer activity at Eastlands since Matthew Mills joined Doncaster on loan on the 11th. Although given the speculation over strikers the likelihood is that Samaras and Bianchi will move on this month and be replaced by, well just about any striker in Europe according to some reports.

Monday, 14 January 2008
Plenty of speculation linking City with moves for Italian based players; with the tricky Amantino Mancini of Roma regularly linked. On Monday though The Sun claimed that he wasn't interested in a move.

Tuesday, 15 January 2008
More speculation that Rolando Bianchi would move to Italy in The Guardian, with Lazio the mooted destination.

Wednesday, 16 January 2008
Surprising news that City's defensive rocks are in danger; plenty of clubs have sniffed around Micah Richards - but The Mirror's claim that Richard Dunne could leave Manchester City after contract talks stalled is a surprise. An exciting move for German striker Lukas Podolski is reported by just about everyone, Podolski is a neat quick forward who made a good impression at the last World Cup but has stalled a bit at club level. The Independent report that two out-of-favour players will be moved on in Ousmane Dabo and Georgios Samaras.

Thursday, 17 January 2008
After a flood of news on Wednesday, Thursday is quiet. Too quiet.

Friday, 18 January 2008
Aston Villa are linked with more players that the average wannabee-WAG but The Sun make them favourites to sign City's super-quick defender, Nedum Onuoha for £6m. At that money they really should be sucecssful. The Mirror run down the 'escape routes' for Rolando Bianchi and ideentify Espanyol and Lazio as possible options. Russian striker Alexander Kerzhakhov is vaguely linked to City; but most papers think that Spurs is a more likely destination.

Saturday, 19 January 2008
Another quiet day for speculation.

Sunday, 20 January 2008
According to The News of the World, Manchester City are interested in clumsy Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista, who didn't exactly set the world on fire last season at Arsenal. Whilst another of their deluded journalists thinks that Birmingham will part with £2.5m for Georgios Samaras. The news that Nery Castillo has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a broken bone in his shoulder leads The Star on Sunday to report that City may now be in the market for a striker. The story is flanked by one about the Pope and Catholicism and another concerning bears toiletry habits in woods.
