Robert Green is again at the centre of transfer speculation, with the Daily Express reporting that Arsenal are considering a £7million move for the ‘keeper in the summer.

Green seems to be concentrating more on his club form than the speculation that constantly surrounds him after this season’s good form. He hopes that Fabio Capello has noticed the consistent performances he has been producing this season but is not counting on a call up after a frustrating start to his England career, ‘I've been part of the England set-up for 30 matches now and I've played for 45 minutes. You'd think a keeper who has been around the squad for four years would have played more than half a game.’

Dean Ashton is another player linked with a move away from Upton Park again this week. He has caught the interest of Kevin Keegan at Newcastle United (The Mirror) and Sven Goran-Eriksson at Manchester City (The Sun). According to The Sun, the move to Manchester City will only happen if the Hammers can tempt Darren Bent away from Tottenham Hotspur. Ashton hopes to return from a minor injury to play in the midweek game at home to Liverpool, after missing the 1-1 away draw against Manchester City last weekend.

Villarreal’s Argentine midfielder Leandro Somoza has been linked with a move to the club according to The Independent. The £3million-rated central midfielder has been on loan to Real Betis this season. Is Curbishley hoping an Argentine presence may propel the Hammers on a run akin to the closing months of last season?

Reports in France are linking West Ham with a move for 26-year old Swedish international Lars Nilsson, who is currently playing for St Etienne. The forward has become disillusioned with life at the French club after appearing once for the club since his move from Heerenveen in the summer.

With the days rapidly running out before the end of the transfer window Alan Curbishley will be keen to still add to his squad considering the amount of injuries he has had to suffer this term. Curbishley needs something that you can’t necessarily buy in the transfer window and that is consistency. At times this year, he hasn’t had the fortune of playing a full strength side with which to breed a consistent streak.

West Ham are partial to a little bit of transfer madness on the last day of the window, so expect a signing or two a couple of hours before it shuts for the winter.
