Manchester City remain the most talked about club in the division, with the exception of Newcastle. City have been repeated reported as wanting to offload Samaras and Bianchi and bring in a striker worthy of the name.

Monday, 21 January 2008
Richard Dunne is clearly 'in-play' as Celtic are the latest to be linked to the Republic of Ireland defender in the Daily Mail. Newcastle are reported by The Star to be prepared to treble Micah Richards wages if he could stop them conceding more than, say, two goals a game.

Tuesday, 22 January 2008
The Press Association rehash Torino's hopes of signing Rolando Bianchi; and The Birmingham Mail believe that Alex McLeish has changed his mind and now doesn't want Georgios Samaras, despite agreeing a £2.5m fee. The Daily Mail believe that Newcastle will offer Micah Richards £70,000 a week to join Newcastle. How much is all the team in China worth, I wonder?

Wednesday, 23 January 2008
The Press Association today believe that Rolando Bianchi is close to moving to Lazio. In a Micah Richards update The Daily Mail report that City are about to offer Richards a new contract - a report that City deny in the Machester Evening news later on.

Thursday, 24 January 2008
The Press Association report that Sevilla and Brazil striker Luis Fabiano claims talks with City are at an "advanced" stage; The Daily Mail rate the player at £9m and claim that he is second choice after the failure to sign Lucas Podolski. The Times feel that Real Zaragoza forward Diego Milito is a more likely target. Setanta state that Roberto Mancini's son, Filippo, has been offered a trial by City.

Friday, 25 January 2008
The Independent report that Luis Fabiano wants to remain at Sevilla for at least the rest of the season; and the Sun compound this by suggesting that the real target for City is West Ham's Dean Ashton - a £7m target. So that's Podolski, Fabiano, Milito and Ashton so far this week.

Saturday, 26 January 2008
A day for wild conjecture, David Beckham will play for City if he returns to England and Seville want £44m for Fabiano acording to The Sun; Inter Milan have rejected a bid for Nelson Rival in The Daily Mail.

Sunday, 27 January 2008
City are linked with their fifth forward of the week, in the form of CSKA Moscow striker Wagner Love reports the News of the World. Aston Villa and Bolton are keen to sign defender Nedum Onuoha in the Sunday People and Georgios Samaras third new club this week is Espanyol.
