Football weekends seem almost interminally long these days, by Monday empires have risen and fallen and in the case of Manchester City and Everton they have both fallen a place compared to Saturday morning. This game sees two of the five or six teams vieing for fourth place meet, with City perhaps fresher as Everton had a UEFA Cup engagement in the week.

Manchester City (8) vs Everton (5), KO 20:00

With Liverpool winning on Saturday these two both know that the race for fourth place is now going to be intense. It may now take as much as 70 points to guarantee that final Champions' League spot (unless Liverpool win the tournament, in which case they'd get it regardless) instead of the more usual 60-65 points. Liverpool, Everton and Villa are all on 47 points with Portsmouth and City only three points further back; so a City win would put them right back into the race. City will be buoyed by the double over rivals United, and have lost only one league game at home this term. Everton have had European distractions and will need to be on top of their game to get anything here.
