West Bromwich Albion vs West Ham United: Premier League Prediction Panel 2008/9 - previews and predictions

Two more clubs in difficulty for entirely different reasons.  West Brom are bottom and with a solitary point and a solitary goal to date; unless the Baggies can start scoring goals then this will be another long relegation scrap.  Against a West Ham side that has a new manager this week West Brom may take some heart - and this type of home game needs to be won if the crowd aren't going to sense danger.  Hopefully the wonderfully named Ryan Donk will get a game and maybe Donk will dink one in?

Gianfranco Zola has arrived and will look for an immediate impact, but new managers often get a better reaction to their second match in charge (oddly enough) and as West Ham are looking for more coaches it could be that the new manager will make few tactical changes until the new management team is in place.  The Hammers are in decent form in fifth place and will fancy their chances on form grounds and with some uncertainty removed this could be a relaxed outing.

West Bromwich Albion (20) vs West Ham United (5); Kick Off 3pm, 13 September 2009

Panel Verdict
The panel is very split on this one with plenty of support for a first West Brom win, but a narrow majority expect that Gianfranco Zola will be celebrating a narrow away win.

Home: 4; Draw: 4; Away: 8; TBC: 1; mode score: 0-1, 1-0 or 2-0

Spread Betting
Despite West Ham's better form and league position Sportin Index make West Brom favourites due to the turmoil in east London; but with that resolved are West Ham outsiders?  A sell on West Brom supremacy will break even if it is a draw and will result in a profit with a West Ham win - and that looks good value.

Example: 20pts West Brom/West Ham sell supremacy at 0
West Brom win by 2 goals: you lose 40pts
West Brom win by 1 goal: you lose 20pts
Draw: you break even
West Ham win by 1 goal: you win 20pts
West Ham win by 2 goals:you win 40pts
and so on
