Blackburn Rovers vs Liverpool: Premier League Prediction Panel 2008/9 - preview and predictions

Blackburn is looking a bit desperate, with a little luck in recent weeks the team would be clear of danger at the bottom - but just about everything has conspired against it. Blackburn does score goals though - and as soon as it allies this with some defensive steal Blackburn will rise gently to mid-table. Only Chelsea and Tottenham have kept clean sheets against Blackburn in the last nine games so Blackburn will expect a goal at home against almost anyone.

Liverpool are top, but in recent weeks a number of mid-table teams have successfully stifled Liverpool's attack. With Fernando Torres sidelined until the New Year Liverpool must hope that Dirk Kuyt rediscovers his early season form or that Robbie Keane finds some boots that fit - otherwise Steve Gerrard will be expected to win the remainder of the games in 2009. Liverpool has scored just 13 goals in the last 11 games.

The prospect of Blackburn looking at Liverpool's last three games (where Liverpool has scored just one goal) and using the knowledge to grind out a 0-0 is hardly thrilling - but can't be discounted. Top plays second bottom - and all the betting value could well be on a draw at 3/1.

Blackburn Rovers vs Liverpool; Kick Off 3:00pm 6 Dec 2008
