Everton vs Aston Villa: Premier League Prediction Panel 2008/9 - preview and predictions

Everton have recorded just one win at Goodison Park this season and with three of their main strikers missing through injury you’d have to fancy Aston Villa to leave Merseyside with all three points this afternoon.

The Toffees are without Louis Saha, Yakubu and James Vaughan for the visit of Martin O’Neill’s side leaving a lot of responsibility on the shoulders on the young Nigerian forward Victor Anichebe, who has only scored once all season.

Aston Villa have been on form away from Villa Park, with four wins on the road, but they have failed to win or, indeed, even score since shocking Arsenal at the Emirates three weeks ago. However, they are unbeaten in their last four clashes with Everton and Martin O’Neill has only lost once at Goodison Park as a manager.

Villa themselves have injury worries with John Carew expected to be out with a back injury and Ashley Young may also miss out due to a calf strain. Curtis Davies and Steve Sidwell however are in contention for a starting role.

Just three points separate them in the league and both teams will be desperate for all three points. If Villa win they will go above Hull City into fifth place, but if Everton win they will go level on points with Aston Villa.

There hasn’t been a goalless draw between the two clubs at Goodison Park since the turn of the millennium so expect a few goals.

Everton vs Aston Villa; Kick Off 4:00pm 07 Dec 2008

Panel Verdict
The panel is struggling here, Everton's poor home form is tempting many to go with Villa - but a 1-1 draw seems to be the consensus currently.
