West Ham United v Reading: Irons aim to Hammer the Royals

Bookmark and Share

Reading won the Championship title last season while West Ham had to do things the hard way through the play-offs. Well 12 months on and the champions are going back to the Championship while the Hammers are planning for another year in the top flight.

There is no love loss between West Ham and Reading. Ever since Alan Pardew swapped the dugout at the Madejski for Upton Park, there has been a bit of needle between the two sides. The Royals always raise their game for the encounters with the Hammers. In 11 league meetings, the Royals have come out on top in seven of them - including the last three, and don't even mention that 6-0 demolition at the Madejski in 2007.

However, this is the perfect opportunity for the Hammers to send the Royals down with their tails between their legs. West Ham have only lost at home once in 2013 - v Spurs - while Reading have only won twice since the turn of February.

It looks like a home win all day long.

West Ham v Reading; Kick Off 4pm May 19 2013
