Wigan Athletic v Aston Villa: Can the Villans end up victorious?

Bookmark and Share

This was supposed to be the crucial game in the fight to beat the drop, the game where the loser would be consigned to Championship football. However, Wigan blew their chance of the great escape by losing at home to Swansea City.

The Latics have created history this season by becoming the first team to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season, but hopefully it won't be too long until we see the Latics in the top flight again.

Aston Villa fans were all cheering on the Arsenal in midweek as the Gunners finally ended Wigan's brave battle for survival. That means Paul Lambert's men can go into today's game with a clear head and enjoy themselves for once.

Despite nothing resting on this game, it should be an entertaining 90 minutes, but who will come out on top?
