Arsenal: Higuain, Rooney, Suarez or Benteke - which strikers should they sign?

Arsene Wenger appears to be focused on boosting the amount of firepower the Gunners possess for the new campaign with high-profile strikers like Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and the controversial Luis Suarez all linked with the north London giants.
However, who would give the Frenchman more punch for his pound?
Well let's have a look at a few who may or may not happen.
Gonzalo Higuain
The name has been synonymous with all transfer talk concerning Arsenal over the past few weeks and the saga shows no sign of ending. Higuain made his name in his native Argentina with River Plate before becoming a star in Europe with his exploits at Spanish giants Real Madrid. He is the man Wenger has set his heart on capturing, if you believe recent reports that is. Having scored more than 100 goals at the Bernabeu Higuain could well be the clinical striker the Gunners have been crying out for.
What looked to be a straight forward deal though is now dragging on with Madrid playing hard ball and Wenger looking at other options. This could rumble on all summer or Wenger could well pull out.
How ironic is it that the Gunners are interested in the very man who ended the Invincibles' unbeaten run in controversial fashion and been a long time thorn in the side ever since he stepped on to the pitch with Everton. New Manchester United boss David Moyes claims the striker is not for sale but it is an open secret that Rooney wants to leave Old Trafford. Will he suit the Arsenal way? Of course he would. Rooney has been one of the Premier League's most consistent performers.
Arsenal though need to not only match his astronomical wages and fee but also show the intent if being the team where he can thrive again.
Chances of the move happening - very remote.
Luis Suarez
Ok, hands up. Who saw this one coming? Suarez was supposedly leaving these shores following the negative press he was getting over his outrageous antics on the pitch, so the revelation of Arsenal bidding £30m for him came as a huge surprise.
No one doubts his phenomenal talent though. He had a wonderful season last time out at Anfield and is exactly the kind of player who would suit the Arsenal way. Will he join? Can Arsenal afford a player who will come with a lot of baggage? It's very unlikely.
Stevan Jovetic
The Fiorentina striker has been targeted by a number of sides recently due to his impressive displays in Seria A. With close control, terrific movement with and off the ball and the versatility to play as a striker of a winger, Jovetic ticks all the boxes as far as Wenger is concerned.
The sad part though is that the player once rumoured to be on his way to the Emirates may be plying his trade in England for a different team.
Arsenal fans need not feel too disappointed though as a fit Lukas Podolski offers the same skill level and boasts a lethal left foot to boot.
Christian Benteke
"I don't care what the Villa fans think, bit I am an Arsenal fan," said Benteke during the middle of the 2012/13 campaign. With more than 20 goals to his name for the struggling Villains and playing with the type of swagger that makes him a joy to behold, Benteke could be the ideal signing needed to replace/partner Olivier Giroud.
A price tag on the higher side not with standing, the Gunners may have to act fast if they want to get him as north London rivals Spurs also have the hitman in their sights.
Chances of signing him - Arsenal can get him if they want.
There are many more names constantly being touted with a move to the Emirates although the likelihood of anyone coming in depends on how desperate and more importantly how quickly Arsenal move for them. Until then the names will keep coming.
PS. Arsene Wenger, don't you think that a holding midfielder, a right back and a central defender are our main priorities just now?
Calling all Arsenal fans: Who do you think Wenger will actually sign this summer? If you were in his shoes, who would you move heaven and earth to bring to the Emirates? Some reports claim the forward line of Higuain, Rooney and Suarez is Wenger's dream. How would you feel if they managed to sign all three? Whatever your views, we'd love to hear from you.
